Težka toga plošča iz ekstrudiranega polistirena, razvita za toplotno izolacijo konstrukcij, ki so izpostavljene izjemnim mehanskim obremenitvam in zahtevnim aplikacijam v gradbeništvu. Opis

PNP XPS 700 je visokozmogljiv toplotnoizolacijski material (najnovejša generacija XPS), izdelan iz splošnonamenskega polistirena. Odlikuje ga gladka površina in homogena struktura zaprtih celic z deklarirano toplotno prevodnostjo (λD) 0,034 W/m·K za debeline 20–100 mm in 0,035 W/m·K za debeline 120–150 mm. Tlačna trdnost ustreza CS(10\Y) 700 (≥ 700 kPa), dolgotrajna vpojnost vode pri popolni potopitvi pa je razvrščena kot WL(T) 0,7 (≤ 0,7 vol.-%). Plošče so skladne s standardom EN 13164:2012+A1:2015 in uredbo REACH ter ne vsebujejo HBCDD ali drugih snovi, ki vzbujajo resne skrbi.

When to use it

  • Road and infrastructure construction on frost-susceptible or heaving soils where compressive strength of ≥ 700 kPa is specified by the designer.
  • Bridge decks and civil engineering structures subject to high or repeated traffic loads that exceed the capacity of XPS 500.
  • Heavily loaded industrial ground slabs and pavements where point loads or concentrated stresses require the highest available compressive resistance in the PNP range.
  • Cold-store and freezer-room floor insulation under reinforced concrete slabs carrying heavy racking or forklift traffic.
  • Foundation and subgrade thermal insulation under extreme permanent load conditions in civil or industrial projects.
  • Lightweight earth fill and embankment applications on soft or compressible ground where the insulation layer must carry significant overburden.
  • Any application where the structural or geotechnical engineer has specified CS(10\Y)700 or an equivalent 700 kPa compressive strength class under EN 13164.

When not to use it

  • Standard residential floor slabs and foundation slabs with moderate loads, because 700 kPa compressive strength is unnecessary and a lower-grade product is more cost-effective.
  • Facade and ETICS plaster systems, because XPS 700 has a smooth surface that does not provide the mechanical key required for reliable adhesion of renders or adhesive compounds.
  • Flat-roof and inverted-roof assemblies where drainage falls are needed, because XPS 700 is not available in factory-tapered form.
  • Applications where a waffled or milled-and-grooved surface finish is required by the bonded layer system, since XPS 700 is produced with a smooth skin only.
  • Thin thermal-bridge inserts or cavity-wall applications where the high density and cost premium of 700 kPa boards offer no performance benefit over lighter grades.

Choose instead

  • Standard residential floors, accessible roofs, and foundation slabs with normal loads — choose XPS 300 (CS(10\Y)300, ≥ 300 kPa).
  • Facade and ETICS plaster or render systems requiring adhesion surface — choose XPS 300 W (waffled, CS(10\Y)300) or XPS 150 W X-Grip (waffled, CS(10\Y)150).
  • Flat roofs and terraces where drainage falls must be created in a single layer — choose XPS 300 SLOPE (factory-tapered, CS(10\Y)300).
  • Industrial floors and heavily loaded parking decks that do not reach 700 kPa requirements — choose XPS 500 (CS(10\Y)500, ≥ 500 kPa).
  • Thin thermal-bridge inserts, cavity walls, and lightly loaded assemblies — choose XPS 150 W X-Grip or XPS 300 as appropriate to the load and surface requirement.

When do you really need 700 kPa? Understanding XPS 700 compressive strength

XPS 700 is the highest compressive-strength board in the PNP XPS range, rated CS(10\Y)700 — meaning the test showed a compressive stress of ≥ 700 kPa at 10 % deformation or yield under EN 826. This supports its use wherever the structural or geotechnical engineer calculates that the insulation layer will be subjected to extreme static or dynamic loads: road sub-bases on frost-susceptible soils, bridge deck build-ups, heavily trafficked industrial pavements, and freezer-room floors under dense racking systems.

Despite its exceptional mechanical strength, XPS 700 shares the same declared thermal conductivity as the rest of the PNP range — λD 0.034 W/(m·K) for thicknesses of 20–100 mm and 0.035 W/(m·K) for 120–150 mm — and its closed-cell structure delivers long-term water absorption of WL(T) 0.7 (≤ 0.7 Vol.-%) and freeze–thaw resistance rated FTCD1. The compressive creep class is CC(2/1.5/50)210, the highest in the PNP range, which this alone does not eliminate the need for a qualified designer to verify long-term deformation under the project's specific load combination.

XPS 700 has a smooth surface skin and is produced in thicknesses from 20 mm to 150 mm in standard format (see the current TDS for any on-request thickness options). It is not available with a waffled or milled-and-grooved surface, so it cannot substitute for XPS 300 W or XPS 150 W X-Grip in bonded facade or ETICS systems. Where loads fall within the 300–500 kPa range, XPS 300 or XPS 500 will typically be the more appropriate and economical choice. Always confirm the required compressive strength class with a structural or geotechnical engineer before specifying XPS 700.
